Kako ocistiti i pripremiti bundevu? (How to clean and prepare a pumpkin?)

Priprema bundeve

1. Operi bundevu pod mlazom hladne vode da ukloniš prljavštinu i eventualne ostatke zemlje.

2. Osušite je kuhinjskim ubrusom.

Sečenje

3. Postavi bundevu na stabilnu dasku za sečenje.

Uklanjanje semenki

6. Kašikom izvadi semenke i vlaknaste niti iz sredine.

Preparing the pumpkin

1. Wash the pumpkin under a stream of cold water to remove dirt and any remaining soil.

2. Dry it with a kitchen towel.

Cutting

3. Place the pumpkin on a stable cutting board.

4. Carefully cut the pumpkin in half, lengthwise or widthwise, whichever is easier for you.

5. If the pumpkin is very large, you can cut it into quarters.

Removal of seeds

6. Remove the seeds and fibrous threads from the middle with a spoon.

7. You can save the seeds for baking or throw them away.

To peel or not to peel?

8. For smaller pumpkins (e.g. Hokkaido), the peel can remain because it softens during baking or cooking.

9. For larger pumpkins (e.g. butternut pumpkin), the peel is often hard and it is better to peel it with a knife.

Cutting into pieces

10. Cut the pumpkin into cubes or slices, according to the recipe.

11. Even pieces enable equal baking or cooking.

Additional tips:

- If you are making puree or soup, you can pre-bake the pumpkin in the oven until it softens.

- If you are cooking, put the cubes in boiling water for 12-20 minutes, depending on the size, until they become soft.
