Razlika izmedju rendanog kokosa, sušenog sitno rendanog kokosa, kokosovih pahuljica i kokosovog brašna? (The difference between grated coconut, desiccated coconut, coconut flakes and coconut flour?)

 1.  Rendani kokos (en. grated coconut) 

Opšti naziv za kokosovo meso koje je izrendano.

Karakteristike:

 - može biti svež ili sušen

 - može biti sitniji ili krupniji

 - sadrži prirodnu masnoću kokosa

 - može imati malo vlage (ako nije potpuno sušen).

Upotreba:

- kolači

- poslastice

- slana jela

- kokosovo mleko

 2. Sušeni sitno rendani kokos (en. desiccated coconut) 

Posebno obrađen kokos koji je veoma sitno izrendan i potpuno osušen.

Karakteristike:

- veoma sitna struktura

- skoro bez vlage

- lagan i rastresit

- duže traje jer je suv

Upotreba:

- kolači i filovi

- kokos kuglice

- posip za kolače

- domaće kokosovo mleko

Napomena:

Najčešće se koristi u poslastičarstvu.

 3. Kokosove pahuljice (en. coconut flakes) 

Veći, tanki listići kokosa.

Karakteristike:

- krupni komadi

- često blago hrskavi

- mogu biti sirovi ili tostirani

- zadržavaju više prirodne teksture kokosa.

Upotreba:

- dekoracija kolača

- granola

- musli

- grickalice

- salate i slana jela

 4. Kokosovo brašno (en. coconut flour) 

Fino mleven prah dobijen od kokosove pulpe nakon ceđenja kokosovog mleka.

Karakteristike:

- veoma sitno i suvo

- sadrži mnogo vlakana

- ima manje masti od rendanog kokosa

- upija mnogo tečnosti

Upotreba:

- peciva

- palačinke ili americke palacinke

- kolači

- bezglutensko pečenje

Napomena:

Ne može se koristiti kao zamena za rendani kokos jer ima potpuno drugačiju strukturu i ponašanje u receptima.

Specially processed coconut that is very finely grated and completely dried.

Characteristics:

- very fine structure

- almost without moisture

- light and loose

- lasts longer because it is dry

Using:

- cakes and fillings

- coconut balls

- sprinkles for cakes

- homemade coconut milk

Note:

It is most often used in confectionery.

 3. Coconut flakes 

Larger, thin coconut flakes.

Characteristics:

- large pieces

- often slightly crunchy

- they can be raw or toasted

- retain more of the natural coconut texture.

Using:

- cake decoration

- granola

- muesli

- snacks

- salads and salty dishes

 4. Coconut flour 

Finely ground powder obtained from coconut pulp after squeezing coconut milk.

Characteristics:

- very fine and dry

- contains a lot of fiber

- has less fat than grated coconut

- absorbs a lot of liquid

Using:

- pastries

- pancakes and crepes 

- plain cakes

- gluten-free baking

Note:

It cannot be used as a substitute for grated coconut because it has a completely different structure and behavior in recipes.
