1. To wash the chicken meat or not?
It is NOT recommended to wash raw chicken meat.
Reason:
- Water does not remove dangerous bacteria such as salmonella or campylobacter.
- Splashing water can get bacteria on the sink, work surface and utensils.
- Complete heat treatment (internal temperature around 75 °C) destroys bacteria.
If there are small residues or liquid from the packaging on the meat, it is enough to wipe it with a paper towel and throw the towel away immediately.
